Human-wildlife conflict occurs when agricultural expansion borders forest lands. Crop depredation by elephants and livestock raiding by leopards create heavy financial loss, leading to retaliatory killings. PFWCI designs warning networks and provides community support.

The Conservation Challenge

Villagers living near national reserves face constant risk of crop damage and physical injury from wild animals. The absence of early warning mechanisms leads to late-night crop-guarding, heightening the risk of fatal encounters with elephants or leopards.

Environmental Risk Factors

Habitat loss, structural soil degradation, and seasonal resource depletion present immediate threats to surrounding ecological stability.

Our Mitigation & Solution

PFWCI implemented AI-enabled early-warning camera systems along village borders to detect wild animal movements. These trigger automated SMS alerts to local farmers. We also helped build predator-proof livestock corrals and formed community conflict-resolution cells.
