PFWCI's flagship plantation project targets degraded forest margins, dry agrarian zones, and barren village lands across Karnataka, backed by a five-year monitoring cycle to ensure sapling survival.
The Conservation Challenge
Monoculture commercial plantations and dryland degradation in Northern and Central Karnataka have led to soil erosion and loss of native seed stocks. Planting trees without a dedicated long-term care plan often results in high mortality rates.
Environmental Risk Factors
Habitat loss, structural soil degradation, and seasonal resource depletion present immediate threats to surrounding ecological stability.
Our Mitigation & Solution
PFWCI established community nurseries, fenced seedbanks, and local school clubs in all 30 districts of Karnataka. We plant native tree species and employ local guardians to monitor the trees, achieving a high survival rate.
